The Cube...

So at the start of this year we had to abstract some geometry from a found space, or an area that is unusable. Really Abstract stuff. we had to take that space and distort it through a camera angle, those images won't load for some reason so all i can show is the space.

From there we got some geometric shapes that
we took from the perspective of the photograph and arranged them with a
specific spatial quality

From there we took the shape and inserted it into an 8"x8" cube and subtracted it from the cube to create new spaces/voids in the cube. These pictures are from Maxwell Render program that is amazing and I look forward to showing you more from it in the near future.

We are now laser cutting the box and building a physical model that will look like this..

An interior view..

First Year..final work

Here is my final project from my first year. It is a bridge/program proposal for hollenbeck park located in El Monte CA. My concept had to deal with technology and memory and the crossing paths that deliver information. The paths caross but do not intersect. There is also a relationship of interaction between both sides that can experience the other but in a limited way. Kind of like a read-only document on your computer.

This the park.... pretty, yet it needs some love

So I hope you can see the two bridging systems that cross over and under each other but do not interesect.

I wanted to force the circulation to not meet on the bridges but on the land to increase that sense of you can see but cannot touch, kind of like how we can remember but no re-live...see but can't touch or experience

Even the canopies cross but do not intersect. This took some work but the final product was pretty stimulating visually. The density of it may take away from that fact that these two systems truly do not intersect

Whats here...

So I am putting my work on Al Gore's intra-web for two reasons, I'm a narcissist and I have an overwhelming fear that my computer will explode and all my hard work will be gone forever... To get started here is my first finished work that started with some random lines and a beach going concept. It illustrates a point-line-plane design. I tried to emphasize a relationship to the landscape... Looking back It would be very different....Oh well I guess that's the education..
